Back on the track... After regaining the full potential of the A5 (Part 18 Blog) we wanted to get it back on the track and see how much and where we had improved. After a great opening round of the MSV Trackday Championship, which we discussed in our blog, and the terrible accident in the TDT on the same day, also discussed in this blog, we had a LOT of work to do to get the car ready for the next race. Back to work... After our recent road trip to Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and the Nürburgring, we knew we still had a few creases that needed ironing out, mainly to fix the inconsistent power figures that we had before the trip. These issues meant we had to limit the power to around 355bhp. Even at this power the car performed better than we expected on and off the track over the course of 1115 miles. A track car isn't just about power... having the correct alignment settings and brakes can make just as much of a difference, if not more! In this vlog we finish up the alignment after installing adjustable caster bushes and rear arms. The bigger and lighter front brakes will also help us fetch this heavy lump to a stop! Cooling is essential, especially on track! In Part 15 of this series we fit our in house developed engine and gearbox oil coolers as well as a custom larger radiator in preparation for the Nurburgring! Knowing from past track experience that cooling is vital we did not want to take any chances with this engine.
